– A szinkronban sok mindent csinál: játékfilmek, sorozatok, dokumentumfilmek, reklámok, ’station voice’, hangoskönyvek kötődnek az Ön hangjához. Bárhol szólal meg, mindent hibátlanul old meg, pontosan úgy, ahogyan azt kell. El lehet-e választani a munka szeretetét és a színészi tapasztalatot?
– Nem lehet elválasztani. A szinkron alkalmazott műfaj, a színház önálló alkotó tevékenység. A szinkronizáláshoz elengedhetetlen a sokrétű szakmai tapasztalat, amit elsődlegesen színpadon lehet megszerezni. Akkor lesz jó a szinkron, ha a színész olyan erőket tud mozgósítani magában, amelyek a színházi előadásokat is működtetik. Egyébként mindenkor az aktuális feladatot kell a lehető legjobban megoldani.
– A Főiskolán – minden tekintetben – meglehetősen erős osztályban végzett 1995-be. Mennyire volt ez meghatározó az Ön számára?
– Nagyon. A Horvai-Kapás diákokat igencsak egy akolként kezelte a szélesebb szakma, volt tartalma, hogy ilyen osztályba jártunk. Mindig is egyfajta összetartás volt jellemző. Például, ha valamelyik osztályfőnökünknek születésnapja volt, a régi tanítványok is megjelentek és felköszöntötték őket, de ugyanitt a színészi gondolkodást vagy az elemzési hasonlóságokat is említhetem. A főiskola után a Vígszínházban kezdtem, ahol nagyon sok Horvai növendék játszott – mivel egy időben ő volt a színház igazgatója, főrendezője. Az osztályunk valóban erős volt, de mi ezt a Főiskolán nem érzékeltük, csupán az emberi kapcsolatokat, a problémákat, a feladatokat láttuk.
Később három évet töltöttem az akkori Nemzetiben, majd még hármat a Radnóti Színházban, utána szabadúszó lettem.
– A Radnóti-ban az Anconai szerelmek egy nagyon sikeres előadás volt.
– Amikor a Radnótiba szerződtem, be kellett ugranom az egyik szerepbe. Ez amolyan „kötelező 
kört” jelentett. Az Anconai szerelmesek igazi kult’ előadás lett, nagyon szerették a nézők, ezért, amikor lekerült a repertoárról, többek közt a Ruttkay Éva Színházban is megélt egy újabb szériát.
A legmeghatározóbb számomra talán az Ember tragédiájában Ádám alakja volt a Várszínházban, amelyet évekig játszottunk. A mű, a madáchi gondolatok nagy feladatot állítottak elém. Minden előadás komoly megterhelés volt, és emellett nagyon sokat lehetett tanulni belőle.
– Mennyire meghatározó a jelenleg játszott Válás Budán?
– A Márai darabot nagyon szeretem, és talán ebben a szerepben érzem magam a legsikeresebbnek. Majd’ negyven percig csak én beszélek a színpadon. Komoly kihívást jelent ennyi ideig lekötni a közönség figyelmét. Furcsa találkozásként indult, mert kezdetben nem igazán kedveltem sem a regényt, sem a szövegkönyvet, azonban az előadás jól sikerült és úgy érzem, hogy mostanra összeszoktunk a figurával.
– A Királyasszony lovagja és a Boris Spielmann nagy visszatérése című daraboknál a díszlet mellett az Ön nevét tüntették fel. Hogy adódott ez a lehetőség?
– Csak egy izgalmas kaland volt. Kővári Katalin, a darabok rendezője megengedte, hogy kipróbáljam magam e téren. Ám az ilyen feladatokhoz komoly szakmai és anyagismeret kell, aminek nem vagyok birtokában.
– Ön a Duna Televízió hivatalos hangja. Mennyire különbözik ez a hagyományos szinkronmunkáktól?
– Teljesen más, hiszen amikor az ember játszik, alapvetően gondolatokat, érzelmeket közvetít. Itt ilyenről szó sem lehet. A bemondónak – ez pedig leginkább ehhez hasonlíthaó munka – mindig meg kell őriznie elfogulatlanságát, pártatlanságát. Nem a személyes interpretáció, hanem a közvetített üzenet tartalma lényeges, így a feladatom az, hogy objektíven tájékoztassak. Ezen sokat ront, ha érzelmek kerülnek a hangzó anyagba. Kifejezetten vicces lenne, ha mondjuk együttéreznék egy műsorcímmel.
– Gyakran osztanak cinikus, ironikus szerepeket Önre. Példaként említve Hugh Laurie-t a Fekete viperában, a Dr. Csont Booth ügynökét vagy az Életfogytig zsaru-béli karakterét.
– Meglehetősen cinikus embernek ismerem magamat. Anyai ágon az egész családom ilyen. Kevesen is bírják. Kifejezetten szeretem a cinizmust, amíg belefér a humor kategóriájába. Talán ezért is állnak ezek a szerepek közelebb hozzám, mert magam is ilyesmiken tudok nevetni.
– Akkor ebből a szempontból Ben Affleck-et nagyobb kihívás szinkronizálni?
– Nem, mert Ben Affleck szerintem nem olyan jó színész – már elnézést -, mert például folyton lóg az állkapcsa. Idejét sem tudom mikor szinkronizáltam őt utoljára.
Nemrég vetítették egy filmjét és szomorúan tapasztaltam, hogy nem én csináltam. Persze sem írott sem íratlan szabály nincs arra vonatkozóan, hogy ki kinek a magyar hangja. Vannak szinkronrendezők, akik szeretnek újítani vagy egészen más az elképzelésük a karakter láttán. Ezzel semmi baj nincs, de persze jól eső érzés, ha rám gondolnak.
– Van olyan külföldi színész, akivel szeret „együttdolgozni”?
– Nagyon szerettem szinkronizálni David Thewlist, aki többek közt a „Hét év Tibetben” című film egyik főszereplője volt, Brad Pitt mellett. Remek színész és csudajól játszik. Számomra az az ideális, amikor a külföldi színész vezet engem, amikor elég követni az ő játékát, és nem az a feladat, hogy a magyar változattal „feljavítsuk” a gyenge forgatott anyagot. Kifejezetten sikerként élem meg, amikor nem ismerik fel a hangomat, mert ez azt jelenti, hogy bele tudtam bújni a szerepbe, a figurába, hűen tudtam közvetíteni az eredeti játékot és szándékot. Persze erre csak jó mozi és jó színész esetén van lehetőség.
– A South Parkban rengeteg epizódszereplőt visz, és Ön a Mr. Hanky (Kula bácsi) nevű karakter magyar hangja is. Úgy hallottam, hogy őt kifejezetten Ön kérte?
– Én igazán Szaddam szerettem volna lenni, de őt már lestoppolta más. Kula bácsi nem tudom, hogy jött, de amikor népszerű lett, már kevésbé kedveltem, mert mindenki ezzel a karakterrel azonosított. Hiába mondtam én, hogy Hét év Tibetben vagy Szerelmes Shakespeare… csak maradt, hogy „jaja, te vagy a Kula bácsi hangja?!”
– Emlékszik olyan produkcióra, amelynek kifejezetten nagy öröm volt a részese lenni?
– Igen, A tengeralattjáró című film. Valamilyen megmagyarázhatatlan oknál fogva rajongok a 
tengeralattjárókért. Ez az alkotás pedig nagyon-nagyon jó. Kevés olyan háborús mozi van, ami katonailag, harcászatilag és emberi viszonyaiban is hitelesen mutatja be az eredeti környezetet. A Das Boot pedig, ezen kevesek egyike. Amikor a szinkronját készítettük, úgy állapodtam meg a stúdióval, hogy nem fogadok el érte pénzt, mert annyira szeretem ezt a történetet és nekem külön öröm volt, hogy benne lehettem. Viszont kértem egy DVD-t példányt, amit aztán meg is kaptam. Emellett én narrálhattam az extrák közt a werkfilmet is.
– Szeret dokumentumfilmeket alámondani?
– Nagyon szeretem, mert érdekes munka és egyfajta készségfejlesztés számomra a blattolás. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a felvételkor látom életemben először a szöveget, mégis helyesen hangsúlyozva, értelmesen tagolva kell felolvasnom, minél kevesebb tévesztéssel és az eredeti temp¬ó, hangvétel, stb. pontos követésével. Komoly technikai kihívást érzek abban, hogy lehetőleg minél kevesebb bakival, minél hosszabb egységeket hibátlanul, jól értelmezve tudjak elmondani.
– Játszik valamilyen hangszeren?
– Amennyit magamtól összeszedtem, annyit zongorázom, fiatal koromban tanultam dobolni – de szerencsére azt abbahagytam. Néhány évvel ezelőtt vettem egy szaxofont és elkezdtem szaxofonozni, de nem haladtam vele. Gyermekeim nem szeretik a hangos hangszereket, így ritkán adódik alkalmam gyakorolni.
– Több filmben is szerepelt, így például a Mentsétek meg Terézanyut!-ban is.
– Imádom a filmet, nagyon szeretek filmezni. Ráadásul a pályám elején elég jól „be is etettek”, mivel akkoriban készült az Áloműzők és a Showbálvány című sorozat, amelyből huszonvalahány adást csináltam végig. A tévézés, filmezés igen közel áll hozzám, de valamiért nem kapok ilyen feladatokat, így ezekből jobbára kimaradok.
Voltak persze filmek, amelyekben játszottam, mint például a Playing God című rövidfilm, az Utolsó blues, a Sztracsatella vagy a Terézanyu, de ezek inkább epizódszerepek voltak. Komoly, nagy filmes múlt nem áll mögöttem, és ezt sajnálom.
– Ajánlana valakit következő interjúalanynak?
– Csörögi István szinkronrendezőt, aki a szakma egyik legfelkészültebb képviselője. Kiemelkedő műveltségű, tudású, komoly és – talán furcsán hangzik, de – „szép” gondolkodású ember.
